The landlord highly recommends tenants to purchase renter’s insurance. The landlord does not need to see the policy. You may be covered under your parent’s home owner’s policy if you are a dependent. Renters insurance is fairly inexpensive. If there was a fire and you lost everything, your landlord’s policy does not cover your possessions. Can you really afford NOT to have one for your apartment?
